As you may remember a couple of months ago I was invited by Elemis to have a facial treatment at John Lewis / Oxford Street. Aaaaand I was also gifted three products from their BIOTEC skin care line, which I could take home with me.
Before the treatment I had the opportunity to get a skin analysis to make sure I receive the right treatment for my skin type. It turned out that I have very good skin apart from the area around my cheeks where I have underlying bigger pores. However, I myself felt at that point that my skin looked a bit tired. Therefore I’ve decided to go with the BIOTECH Radiance Renew facial treatment which is supposed to:
- Re-energise dull, tired looking skin
- Brighten and even out the skin tone.
- Minimise discolouration
- Reduce dark circles under the eyes
- Protect against urban pollution and environmental damage that causes skin aging
The girl who made my skin analysis also made the facial treatment which took about 30 minutes.
When I came home to examine my face closer I felt my skin definitely looked fresher than before and had an amazing glow to it. Even the fine lines around my eyes had disappeared.
I brought three products home with me and I have used them regularly since the treatment. The products are the BIOTEC Skin Energising Day Cream, BIOTEC Skin Energising Night Cream, both for combination skin and the BIOTEC Energising Cleanser.
Both creams contain encapsulated Zinc and Copper. Encapsulated means that both ingredients are kept in a separate container to ensure the potency of Zinc and Copper is protected until contact is made with skin. The cream is designed to help activate the skin’s own power to stimulate cell growth and DNA replication.
In addition to Zinc and Copper, the night cream also contains a trio of acids to optimize the skin’s microflora. It Encourages optimum cell health and vitality.
The magnesium Aspartate, which is a form of vitamin C is designed to improve the synthesis of collagen and is also a powerful anti-oxidant.
The third product I received was The BIOTECH Skin Energising Cleanser. This is a type of cleanser I’ve never heard of before as it is to be used AFTER you already have removed the make up from your skin. It’s intend is to prepare the skin for the day or night cream and to activate both creams’ performance to the maximum.
Did these products work for me?
As mentioned in the beginning I was hoping to improve my dull and tired looking skin. Since using the products my skin has definitely improved and looks a lot fresher. Also I feel my fine lines around my mouth and eye area are reduced.
How long do they last?
The creams lasted for three months. It says on the packaging to use two pumps each time, but I find it is more than enough to use just one pump.
The cleanser is a whole different story. While I have always used three pumps in mornings and evenings this one doesn’t seem to get empty. It almost seems to be bottomless! Even though each time I’m using it I’m using two to three pumps, I have only used one-third of it so far. I’m pretty sure this will last me almost for another year!
I love that both creams are creamy leaving my skin hydrated, without feeling heavy. They have a fresh but not intense smell to them. The new pump system is great as it prevents from overusing the product. Because of this it is also very hygienic as only the product that comes out of the pump gets in contact with your skin. I also like that because of the unique pump system no product is wasted and I could use every single bit of it.
Elemis states they don’t test any of their products on animals, nor have they even asked third parties suppliers to test for them.
The BIOTEC skin care line does not contain any animal products and is therefore suitable for those who prefer vegan cosmetics.
The only downside is that the day cream does not contain any SPF protector. If you want to have an SPF factor you will have to buy an additional cream, which is also available at Elemis. (During my facial, the girl who did my treatment also put some of the cream with SPF factor on my face. Also this one felt and smelt amazing). She explained that Elemis is currently working on implementing SPF into all their products without impacting on their performance and without having to compromise Elemis’ philosophy to only use natural ingredients.
These are high end products. With a price tag from £199,50 they are quite pricey.
Would I buy this product again?
Apart from the missing SPF I really enjoyed using these products and will buy them in the future. In fact, I liked them so much that I will try more of their products in the future.
