Christmas time is here! I love this time of the year as it means spending time with my close family and friends, watching films, going for walks and coming back to a cup of hot chocolate, playing board games and of course it means eating tons of cookies and all other sorts of food.
I’m always conscious about trying to keeping my weight during that time of the year while still enjoying the amazing food. I thought I would share my best tips with you…
Here are my tips for you to get through this Christmas period without gaining too much weight.
Start with a healthy breakfast. This starts by actually having a breakfast. Don’t skip it but make sure you eat a breakfast that does not contain wheat and/or sugar. By starting your day this way your cravings will be a lot less during the day and it will make it easier for you to stay away from food you actually don’t intend to eat.
When someone puts a plate or box of cookies in front of you, put the amount of cookies you actually want to eat on a separate napkin or plate. Don’t just pick cookies straight form the box. You will lose count and end up eating way more cookies than you actually intended to!
When it comes to the main Christmas dinner, or the many dinners following Christmas during that period, try to not fill up your plate too much, even though it is so tempting. Also try to put more of the healthy food like vegetables on your plate rather than the unhealthy ones and try not to go for a second round as you know the puddings and cookies will follow…
Eat slowly and chew your food properly. Seriously this makes such a difference and will fill you up quicker.
Drink lots of water before and during having your dinner. This is also a great way to get filled up.
So these are my five tips to make it through the Christmas period without having regrets, while not having to miss out on the good stuff.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and lovely time with your family and friends.
